His team won a Stanley Cup. New York Rangers fan has never been the same.

A longtime New York Rangers fan emailed me. He wrote that he had spent years dreaming of a Stanley Cup. When it came in 1994, he celebrated.

But …

“After about 10 minutes of hugging and jumping over each other, my good friend, Bruce Fox — whose son, Adam Fox, now actually plays for the Rangers — said something I will never forget, ‘Now, we have nothing to (complain) about anymore!’ And I kind of understood what he meant.

“Our whole reason for being was to be filled with frustration & denial and now that was all gone and truly nothing was ever the same. and I never quite rooted with the same desperate passion.”
